Estate Planning

At the Law Office of Jason M. Sokel PLLC, we provide all the estate planning services you need to help give you peace of mind about the future. As a compassionate and caring attorney, Jason guides you through the process of protecting you and your loved ones from the comfort of your own home.

Typical estate planning documents include:

  • Last Will and Testament

    • Typically referred to as a Will, this governs what happens to your assets when you pass.

  • Living Will

    • Nominates who will make health care decisions on your behalf.

  • Power of Attorney

    • Nominates who will have access to your finances on your behalf.

  • Trusts

    • Nominates someone to hold title to property or other assets for the benefit of someone else.

Initial Consultation

The first step, as with most things, is to reach out to our office to set up an initial free consultation so we can help determine how we can assist you in your estate planning journey. While most people believe that estate planning is only for the rich, that cannot be further from the truth! We recommend reaching out even if you are not sure you are ready. At the very least you should understand how the process works and how it can protect you.

2

Engagement

Should you decide to move forward after the initial consultation, we will send out an engagement letter to officially represent you for estate planning services and request a deposit. All of our services are flat fee arrangements which will be discussed during the initial consultation and the deposit will go towards the final balance due after your documents have been executed. Once the engagement letter has been signed, we will set up a call to discuss in further detail your specific needs. This includes filling out an estate planning form that will be provided to you prior to the call to help facilitate that conversation.

3

Document Drafting

Based on our conversations, your documents will be prepared and then shared with you over our secure cloud server. You will then have an opportunity to provide any comments or edits which we will then incorporate into the documents. If you should need, we are always available to discuss any changes or questions you may have on a call as well. The goal is to make sure you are comfortable and understand everything that is being prepared.

4

Document Execution

Once all documents have been reviewed and finalized, we come to you to sign and execute the documents. We make the process as easy as possible and can work around your schedule. Estate planning documents require notarization which we provide, but we do require two additional witnesses to sign (who must be 18 or older). We recommend inviting over friends or neighbors (who do not stand to inherit anything in the Will) for the signing. Once signed, your original documents will be handed over and your future will be secure knowing that you have planned appropriately! If using our virtual services we will mail your documents to you with instructions for how to sign.
